Being Obedient to the Lord (1.18.17)

Holy Father,
When You call me to a difficult task,
gently guide me into the realization
that I must obey you.

I cannot outrun Your Grace.

Help me to see that You will
always walk with me through
to its completion; and provide all
I need to do Your Will, through Your Son
who was obedient even unto death.

I pray this prayer to You Father,
as I struggle with what you have
called me to do.

Faith Believers,
What task has the Lord given you that you are reluctant to do?
  -  Marilyn

If you are reluctant to do something you feel GOD has called you to do - go to Him in prayer.
Be honest with Him about your doubts, but also open your heart and mind to His response.
We know that the Lord is too wise to make a mistake.
He knows what is best for us, always, so we must obey and trust.

L-A-U-G-H : 5 Steps to Keep Your Heart "Light" In Spite of Life's Challenges. (1.17.17)

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit drains one's strength. -  Proverbs 17:22 (ISV)
Dear Faith Believers,
Life challenges preoccupy, and often drain us. GOD tells us that a joyful heart is as good as medicine! It takes courage to laugh amidst challenges. Here are five simple steps to help keep your heart light:

L - Leisure
Schedule leisure time for yourself.

In the midst of life changes, it is important to look away from the pressures and find something that is 'refreshing.' Get creative. Go for a hike. Plan a meal with someone. Have friends over for a game. Build something. Give yourself permission. It may seem trivial, but it can become a lifeline during stressful times. It also helps rekindle relationships that may feel strained with the daily challenges. Plan mini breaks.
A - Affirm
Look around you and intentionally find good.

Affirm the positive things you see and hear. Negativity is easy to slip into, and it will permeate your life - like smoke permeates a forest. Negativity will cloud your thinking. When pressures mount, we tend to take it out on those we love the most. Affirm the relationships you treasure. Guard them in changing times. Look for the positive.
U - U-turns
Allow yourself the freedom of turning around.

If the direction you are going needs changing, then change it. If you want a different job, take a course and begin in that direction. If an important relationship feels tense, plan some positive times together. If your body is discouraging you, be determined to find steps that lead to wellness. Do not dwell on things which you have no control over. Concentrate on the things you have the power to change, and focus your energy there. Change what you can.
G - Give
Find ways to give.

When life gets challenging, our tendency can often be to hoard our resources. Give of your time to help someone else: coach a kid’s team, have someone over, do for others through your time. Give a listening ear and hear the feelings behind the words. Give encouragement and kindness. When you are feeling depleted, intentionally choose to give and you will be surprised at the 'refreshing' that it will bring to you. Be generous without using money.
H - Hope
Dare to hope in tomorrow.
Fan the flames of hope in your heart. We all need hope in something beyond ourselves. GOD can provide that hope (and help) when we invite Him to walk with us on our road of life. He is the ultimate source of hope for tomorrow.

Reach for hope.
Intentionally put laughter back into your life.

Step out and lead others to higher ground as you focus on these simple but powerful steps to a more joy-filled you.
  -  Marilyn

~ Prayer ~
Heavenly Father,

Thank you that Your Word is so practical
even down to reminding me that
a joyful heart is as good as medicine.

Please help me to put these steps into action
to bring more joy and lightheartedness
to my own heart and also to encourage others.

I praise You and thank You Father God
in Your Son, Jesus' Name,

Conditioning our Attitudes; So that We Learn to Triumph In, & Through, Suffering (1.16.17)

Faith Believers,
Why? Why me? What is the meaning of this suffering? These are questions asked by Christians and non-Christians alike.  No one is immune to suffering and adversity: Man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward - Job 5:7.  There are the pressures of want, need, sorrow, pain, persecution, unpopularity or loneliness.

Some suffer for what they have done;
others suffer because of what people
have done to them.

Many suffer because they are victims
of circumstances beyond their control.

Pain is distressing.  There can be nights of agony, when GOD seems so unfair and it seems as if there is no possible help or answer.  The solution is to condition our attitudes so that we learn to triumph in and through suffering.  When Paul looked for relief from his thorn in the flesh - 2 Corinthian 12:7; GOD did not take it away (although there may be times when He does), but told him that “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Billy Graham says, “Nowhere does the Bible teach that Christians are exempt from the tribulations and natural disasters that come upon the people of the world.  Scripture does teach that the Christian can face tribulation, crisis, calamity, and personal suffering with a supernatural power that is not available to the person outside of Christ.”

We need to be careful not to wallow in self-pity and bitterness, taking a sort of delight in blaming GOD for the problems.  Job’s attitude may be an inspiration, Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him - Job 13:15.  The one suffering will be blessed if, amid great agony and despair, he or she can look into the face of the Heavenly Father and, because of His eternal love and presence, be grateful.  Be.  Grateful.
Our response to suffering should be
to look beyond it, and see
GOD’s higher purpose and what
He wants to teach us.
     -  Marilyn

Reasons for suffering may include one or several of the following:
  1. Sometimes GOD is taking corrective action because of sin and disobedience.
  2. GOD may permit suffering so that we learn to respond to problems in a Biblical way.
  3. Sometimes GOD permits suffering simply to teach us that pain is a part of life.
  4. Occasionally, we may bring suffering upon ourselves.  Long-term abuse of our bodies may bring on sickness.
  5. GOD may permit suffering for our well-being (Romans 8:28-29). We have to accept this by faith and trust GOD to work out His own Will and Purpose in us, so that we might be more Christ like.
  6. Sometimes GOD permits suffering in order to speak through our life and testimony to comfort others (John 9:3, 2 Cor.1:3-4).
  7. We are always invited to bring our hurts to GOD in prayer, asking for deliverance, especially if we have dealt with all the possible reasons why this is happening.  But we must allow Him to answer as He chooses.  We must not make demands.

Facing the Year Ahead with the Patience of Job, the Wisdom of Solomon & the Courage to Stand by Our Christian Convictions. (1.15.17)

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my GOD, in whom I trust.’ - Psalm 91:1-2

Faith Believers,
As we enter a new year, we realize that last year is history and the coming year is a mystery. We do not know what the coming year will bring. We live in turbulent times politically, morally, financially, and socially. Only GOD knows what the new year will bring. This is why we must stick courageously with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God's Word.

When we dwell with Him (and on Him) and allow ourselves to draw near to Him, we can rest in His Shadow. We can rest with Him being near; because He is our refuge and our fortress, our hiding place, our protection, and our defense. He is our GOD, in whom we trust.

Certainly the new year will have its share of problems for each of us and that is all the more reason to have the courage to stay close to GOD.
If we focus on a situation too intensely, we can lose sight of GOD.
Our mind gears up for battle and we feel we have to conquer problems immediately.
That is the anxious way of the world.
But there is a better way, and that is to have the courage to take our problems to the Master of the universe; and look at our situation in the light of His Presence. In this world there will always be trouble, but Jesus said, “take heart, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

As we face the year ahead, may we have the patience of Job, the wisdom of Solomon, and the courage to stand by our Christian convictions.
 -  Marilyn

~ Prayer ~
Lord GOD,
In the midst of a problem-cluttered world,
help me to overcome the world
by having the courage
to align my heart with you.

Is there a problem that you are rushing to solve?

Make sure to bring it before GOD in prayer,
for wisdom and guidance.

Then receive GOD’s peace
to help you move forward.

Being Courageous, Reflecting on Joshua 1:9 (1.13.17)

This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9

Faith Believers,
The Book of Joshua opens by announcing that Moses is dead. The LORD speaks to Joshua and gives him an assignment to lead the people into the promised land. Considering Moses was one of the greatest leaders ever, it is likely that Joshua was terrified to take over from Moses.

Joshua needed encouragement, specific instruction not to be afraid and reassurance from the LORD that He would not fail or abandon Joshua. The instruction to “be strong and courageous” is repeated as “be strong and very courageous” and then in Verse 9, the LORD outlines that this is not a suggestion, it is a command. Strong words for a man who was obviously afraid and needed much reassurance.

We assume a courageous person has no fears, but the opposite is true.

Even the dictionary explains that courage is the ability to do something that frightens you, or strength in the face of pain or grief. In this opening chapter, the LORD explains what will help Joshua to be strong and courageous.  The LORD gives Joshua a promise, that is for us as well, “I will be with you as I was with Moses.  I will not fail or abandon you.” Obey His instructions. Study GOD’s Word.

Again the LORD closes with, “do not be afraid or discouraged,” which can be our natural tendency when hard things come. The LORD gives the reason Joshua can trust Him, “For the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go.”

You can be courageous today for that same reason.
The LORD is with you.
  -  Marilyn

Lord, Father God,

Thank You.  You have promised us
that You will be with us;
and will not fail or abandon us.

Thank You that we can follow You,
taking the courage and strength that You
give in the face of fear or pain or grief.

Help us to study Your Word and take it to heart.

Remind us of Your Faithfulness.
Thank You that You are trustworthy.

Give us the courage to obey You, in the face of any obstacle.
Thank You that we, too, have a reason to trust You,
the promise that You will be with us, wherever we go.

Being Patient & Allowing Things to Happen in God's Time (1.12.17)

My Child,
Why are you trying to force your will in certain situations to bring about the change necessary to achieve your desires?  My child, please don’t be hasty.  You would do well to trust Me to bring about opportunities for change, that will not only benefit you, but those around you.  Lean on Me and be patient; take one step at a time to avoid making mistakes that you will regret.

Let things happen in My Time.

You are in need of patience, so that you can evaluate every situation and be sure that your choices are correct before moving forward.  The enemy wants to fill your mind with deception to derail you and take you off course. Be strong, resolute, and refuse to allow fear (and the need of wanting things to happen for you in your timing) take you out of the flow of My Spirit.

Regardless of what comes at you,
you will never face it alone.
I Am always with you, working things out for your good;
but all things will be in My Time.

Do not allow your flesh to take control.
For everything done through selfish ambition
   will result in unrighteousness.

Take whatever time is necessary to quiet
your thoughts and emotions, and then ask Me
for Wisdom about your next step.

Talk to Me, and allow Me to reveal the flow of My Spirit.
I will show you the way.
I will give you the ability to achieve a heightened state
of awareness that will make things a lot easier,
if you yield to My Will.

Precious one, the desires of your heart will happen.
However, let it happen in My Time,
it must happen in My Time,
so that everything will be perfect
and you will want for nothing.

Read and Meditate on His Word
Isaiah 55:8-9 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Hebrews 10:36 - For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of GOD, ye might receive the promise.

James 1:2-5 - My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Do Not Fear, Sayeth the Lord Our God (1.11.17)

My Child,
as I have ordered them according to My Word. Everything will be
revealed as you walk forward with Me. Nothing is left to chance, or to fate, but all things will come forth at My Command.
For I have given you My Word.  In My Word is everything that pertains to your life, and to My Purposes concerning you. Do not waver, but believe My Word, for it is your Guide. My Word will lead you and be
within you. What I have told you and placed within your heart will come to pass.

For I have placed you where you are for a reason. You are the LIGHT that shines in the growing darkness, and you are My Hands and My Feet. Reach out to others, in My Name. knowing that I Am with you. I Will meet your needs as you step out and begin to labor in the fields I have placed you in.

Yes, it is a new day, and yes, it will be a new walk for you. But I have given you everything that you need to accomplish those challenges that are before you. Move ahead!! Do not linger at the door, for if you wait too long, it will close, and it will remain closed.

that has come at you and your home. For the enemy knows that I have brought you to this crossroad; and he is going to attempt to discourage and divert you any way he can. But I say, rebuke the enemy and he will flee from you.

Have faith in Me and believe My Word......

Deuteronomy 1:21 - Behold, the LORD thy GOD hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8 - And the LORD,
he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

2 Kings 6:16 - And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

Isaiah 41:13 - For I the LORD thy GOD will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For GOD hath not given us the spirit of
fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Tips for Challenging Relationships, Meditate on Colossians 3:14 (1.10.17)

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. - Colossians 3:14

Faith Believers,
Relationship help is one of the hottest topics searched on the Internet.
Relationships can be messy.
Love isn’t always easy.
It takes courage to love well.

As always, the Bible offers very practical help. If you find yourself in a challenging relationship right now, start here. Take the five points right from the heart of GOD in Colossians 3:12-15
Ask for His help in putting them into practice and then watch the results. Whether at home, at work, or among friends, these five steps will take you to higher ground in the relationships you want to nurture.

  1. As you get dressed in the morning ask GOD to clothe your heart with compassion and kindness in the particular relationship you are focusing on. Pray for a gentle, humble attitude.
  1. Knowing GOD’s heart of forgiveness toward you, ask Him to help you forgive complaints against you. Ask for grace to not let them settle into your heart and spirit.
  1. Ask GOD’s Spirit to strengthen and help you respond in love that helps create unity and not add to hostility.
  1. Remember that you are called to be a peacemaker. Ask GOD for His peace in your heart and then let it spill over in this particular relationship. Don’t put yourself in harm’s way as you seek peace, and find a mediator if you need one.
  1. Remember to be thankful for the good things you see in the other person and choose to place your focus there instead of on the negative.

Father GOD,
I need Your Spirit to clothe me with a soft heart today.

May I help bring Your presence into the circumstances of today by being dressed with the characteristics that Your Holy Spirit will bring to my life.
Stir within me a thankful heart
and use my presence to help bring
Your peace into my relationship.
I ask this in the strong name
of Your Son, Jesus Christ,

Let God Direct Your Path (1.9.17)

My Child,
It is time for you to pick up what I have given you to and run with it.

Do not look at what you have and think that it is not good enough.
Do not look around at what others have and think that
things should be like theirs before you begin.

No, My child, you were made an original.
There is no one else like you.
You were fearfully and wonderfully made,
and I have something planned just for you.

Therefore, stop the striving --  and allow Me to direct your path.
Do not look to the left nor to the right,
but embrace what I have given you to do.

Use what I’ve anointed you with, as you bless those
around you; and by doing so, I Will fill you up, again and again.
I love you so much Beloved.
Share this love with others, for they need to know
how much I love them.

Come and allow Me to take you where you need to be,
to the place I have ordained for you.

Come now and allow Me to show you who you are in Me.

You are special, and I need you to stay focused on your
journey so that the complete picture I have for your destiny can come to pass.

Rise and fulfill your part My Child, and you will see the visions
I’ve given to you; and your desires shall come to pass.

It’s time, the time has come for you
to allow Me to direct your path.

Read and Meditate on His Word
Psalm 139:14 - I will praise thee; for I am fearfulland wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Isaiah 48:17 - Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy GOD which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Isaiah 1:19 - If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
