Beverly was
the center of attention in her close knit social group.
For some unknown reason,
she took it upon herself to be the judge and jury over the actions of her friends.
Whenever the women got together to fellowship, they were treated to Beverly's
opinion of what everyone else was doing wrong. When her friends became tired of
hearing what Beverly had to say, and tried to distance themselves from her, that
person became her next target of attack. People were afraid to be friends with
her, and they were even more afraid not to be friends with her.
No one should like to hear gossip and criticism.
People
usually try to avoid gossipers, therefore making them an outcast from the rest
of the world. GOD will cast the gossiper out from His presence. There is no room
in His Kingdom for those who delight in the shortcomings of others. The spirit
of Christ within us should build up, not tear down. If we give our heart to
Christ, and put forth an effort to become conscious of what we say, then
we should never say damaging things against our neighbors.
Speak only with the
tongue of Christ, and you will be a blessing to everyone you meet.
Prayer:
Father,
Please
remove from me a malicious and gossiping nature.
Lord, I know you created the
tongue
to be the smallest part of our bodies,
yet it is the deadliest.
GOD fill
me with praise, joy and spiritual thoughts.
Let my words bless others with
kindness and love.
In your Word,
you told us to love one another the way you have
loved us.
Help me Lord not to slander or gossip about others,
because I know you
are going to hold me accountable
for every word that I speak.
Amen
