Opening Our Hearts to God (9.22.14)

The heart is open to hear from GOD,
when the heart is opened to GOD.
At first glance that statement may seem like an oxymoron,
but it is actually a necessary order of action.

First, the heart must be opened to GOD.
There must be a response to His knocking.
But the opening of the door is not as simple as just saying,
“come on in,” because in a sense, when the door is initially opened,
the heart is often too full of other voices
to receive anything, new or otherwise, from GOD.

The heart makes room for GOD when our ideas, thoughts,
emotions, sins, dreams and desires of our heart
are poured out unconditionally to GOD.
The heart is open to hear from GOD,
when we pour out to GOD, that which is in our hearts.

When we pray, we expose our heart to GOD.
Only then does our heart become open to receive
and understand what God is communicating to us.

But there is often a fear about exposing an openness to GOD,
particularly if we have unseemly or embarrassing heart-issues
that seem contrary to the spirit of Godliness.

Strange as though it may seem, even people who believe
in an all-knowing GOD, may somehow feel that there are secrets of their heart
that GOD does not know about. Hence, there is an attempt to hide
from GOD, what God already knows.

We must realize that our hearts are
totally open and transparent before GOD.
There is nothing that comes out of our heart
that shocks nor surprises GOD.

There are no real, "inner-heart" secrets that we may have,
that are hidden from GOD’s all-knowing nature.
The "barriers" that we may have to "hearing GOD,"
are barriers that we create.  Barriers that we choose to keep in place.

To hear GOD with our hearts, our hearts must be
consciously and openly exposed to hear and listen to God.
For He has amazing things to share.
Open your heart today, and allow God to speak to your heart.
