Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust is not something that comes naturally to me. Because of past relationships and particular circumstances, learning to trust someone takes a long time for me. In fact, I sometimes place a boundary between myself and others as a means of protection, and I let very few enter the space of friendship. However, over the years, and in the midst of losing trust in others, I have learned to put a deeper trust in the One who knows me and Who has my best interests at heart.
That Someone is the Lord.
If I begin to lean on my own instincts or intuition, I can misstep and fall into a pit, further complicating my circumstances. If I listen to well-meaning people but haven’t taken my concerns to prayer with the Lord, I can make wrong choices and suffer the consequences.
The Scripture says that in all my ways, I must submit to Him.
That means when I am faced with a decision such as a job, a ministry, a relationship, or a geographic move; I need to kneel down, seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit, and obey the Spirit's leading. Once I’ve done that, I can be assured that I will be on the right and best path for my life journey.
And that gives me complete peace.
Dear Lord,
I am so grateful that I don’t have to lean on myself,
or others, nor play a guessing game -
when it comes to my life.
You have a plan for me, a good plan,
and I just need to seek You first
in all of my ways.
Help me to remember that, as I trust in You alone.
Amen
